Book review: Sarah’s Key

HELLO

how’s everyone ,how’s school? no comment ?

i know it’s been a long time and i have so many books waiting to be reviewed

any way here’s a new book i would like to share with you

i picked it up because it was one of the best books i have read in summer vacation.

Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay

Genres: Adult Fiction – History – World War II

pages: 400 pages

Book page on Goodreads

Goodreads Rate: 4.06

My Rate: 5 !!

this book was perfect , The amount of tragedy and sadness in this book is surprisingly amazing , touching , I cried so many times !

i just love novels related to real world crisis and true stories, the story generally is about the roundup that happened in Paris, July 1942. when the french police started arresting Jewish families and they kept them at Vélodrome d’Hiver few days without food and water and then to Drancy internment camp nearby,  they separate the families, sent the men first then separate the women and the kids, they sent the kids last to Auschwitz -German for extermination , you can read about it here ( Vel’ d’Hiv Roundup ) here’s some pictures of the first place , which was  a bicycle velodrome stadium.

Any way, this novel is about one Jewish family and the little girl Sarah (ten years old) who locked up her brother in their secret hiding place ( a bedroom cupboard ) at their apartment when the police came to arrest her family , she was protecting him she thought she will come back tomorrow to get him, but she never did….

and also the book is about American journalist Julia Jarmond, who was trying to find the truth after sixty years , finding about what happened and what she was really interested in is finding Sarah.

i can’t tell you how much i loved this book, and how the writer described all the things that happened, and how she wrote it, one chapter was sarah’s story and the next one was about Julia.

the cover is too beautiful , Vantage , i got it online and i found it in Jarir, but the cover is different ! if you care that much

there’s a movie as well , i didn’t want to mention this i don’t want you to get lazy and watch it, READ THE BOOK😀

have a good day and enjoy your weekend

-Sara
